Our Projects > Whole HouseBlue Ridge TraditionalLocation: Seattle – Blue Ridge Neighborhood
Architect: Carlisle Classic Homes
Completion Date: 2007
This whole house retrofit was driven by 2 main criteria, create an up to date kitchen which opens into the dining area and create a master bathroom to be attached to the current master bedroom, all the while keeping the traditional feel of this 1920’s home. The master bathroom portion of the project was achieved by adding a dormer to the back of the house, both to add square footage and to capitalize on the sweeping views of Puget Sound. This was made difficult due the fact that the back of the house sits on a ravine so all materials had to be either brought in through the house or hoisted over the roof. Features include a custom vanity with marble countertop, cast iron tub and a custom tile and glass shower enclosure. The wall between the kitchen and the dining room was removed to give both the cooking and eating areas a more open feel. Custom, Cherry wood cabinets by Baywood Custom Cabinets create the base for Carrera marble countertops and the porcelain tile backsplash. An Aga range and other professional grade appliances complete the kitchen. Throughout the remainder of the home all of the electrical and plumbing systems were fully brought up to date including the addition of a whole house audio/video system. All of the hardwood floors were refinished throughout the house and basement spaces were improved to create an additional bedroom and bathroom for the growing family. Extensive repairs were done to drywall and plaster and the entire house was painted inside and out. |
